April 8, 2012 MCKENZIE CUP GAME FOUR
Brandon Skinner’s goal with 11 minutes remaining in game four of the best-of-five senior men’s BC/Alberta championship eliminated
the Powell River Regals from further playoff action and earned the Stony Plain Eagles a spot at Allan Cup 2012 as the pacific region
representative. Eagles erased a two-goal third period deficit with goals by Blair Zahara and Jeff Yopyk before Skinner broke the tie
by jamming a rebound past Regals goaltender Justin Mulholland.

April 7, 2012 MCKENZIE CUP GAME THREE
Powell River Regals face a must-win situation in game four of the BC/Alberta McKenzie Cup series after dropping an 8-3 decision
to the Stony Plain Eagles in game three Saturday night. Doug Auchenberg scored twice for the visiting Alberta champions, including
the eventual winner on a power play late in the second period. Blair Zahara recorded his second four-point game in as many nights
with a goal and three assists to help pace the Eagles attack.

April 6, 2012 MCKENZIE CUP GAME TWO
Stony Plain Eagles squared the BC/Alberta McKenzie Cup final series versus Powell River Regals at a game a piece with a 6-2 victory
Friday night, one day after suffering a 7-2 drubbing in the series opener. Scott Drewicki, Justin Cox and Blair Zahara each had four
point nights for the Alberta champions while David Rathjen turned aside 27 shots in a bounce-back game for the Eagles goaltender after
allowing five goals and getting the hook midway through game one. Rathjen’s 27 saves performance earned him second star honours on the
night. Drewicki, with four assists, was named the game’s first star. Cox edged out teammate Zahara for the third star selection.

April 5, 2012 MCKENZIE CUP GAME ONE
Rick McLaren scored twice and added two assists in leading the Powell River Regals to a 7-2 victory over Alberta champion Stony Plain
Eagles in game one of the best-of-five BC/Alberta McKenzie Cup final at Hap Parker Arena. The line of McLaren, Chris Tarr and Richard
Molenaar combined for 11 points to lead the attack while goaltender David Brumby turned aside 20 of the 22 shots directed his way to earn the win.

APRIL 4, 2012 REGALS HOST EAGLES IN HEAD-TO-HEAD
BC Senior Men’s AAA champion Powell River Regals will host Alberta’s representative Stony Plain Eagles in a best-of-five series to see who
will travel to Lloydminster to represent the Pacific region in the 2012 Allan Cup. Regals earned the right to host the McKenzie Cup after
they swept Fort St. John Flyers for the Savage Cup two weeks ago. Stony Plain had a more difficult time getting here when Horse Lake Chiefs
pushed them to a seventh game after a cruel twist early in the series.

March 28, 2012 REGALS SWEEP SERIES
One practice, one scrimmage, one series and one championship. That is all it took for Powell River Regals to take three straight from
Fort St. John Flyers, 4-2, 5-2 and 3-1 to win their 12th Savage Cup. It really wasn’t that easy but with much of the hard work done in
advance of the series the Regals looked liked they had played a 30 -game schedule and peaked just in time for the playoffs.

March 25, 2012 SWEET SWEEP!!!
The Green and Gold are British Columbia champions once again. Powell River Regals won the 2012 Savage Cup with a three-game sweep over
Fort St. John Flyers in the provincial final.
The home team skated to a 4-2 win in game one, a 5-2 win in game two, and then clinched the series with a 3-1 victory in game three to
earn a berth in the BC/Alberta Mackenzie Cup final. That best-of-five series against Alberta's champion gets underway Thursday, April 5th, at
Hap Parker arena in Powell River. The series continues with games two and three on April 6th and 7th, with games four and five (if necessary)
scheduled for April 8th and 9th. All games begin at 7:30pm.
The McKenzie Cup champion advances to the Allan Cup in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, as the Pacific region representative. The six team
national championship tournament runs from April 16-20, 2012.
The number four jersey of Regals legend Andy McCallum was retired during a ceremony prior to game three. Andy joins Bob Crawford, Mike Andrews,
John Vanderkemp, and Tod English as former Regals with jerseys hanging in the rafters of Hap Parker arena.
March 24, 2012 SAVAGE CUP GAME THREE
Fort St. John Flyers’ five-year run as provincial AAA senior champions has come to an end. Powell River Regals reclaimed the title they last
held in 2006 with a 3-1 victory in game three of the 2012 BC Savage Cup final. Scott Kirton netted the eventual game winner with seven minutes
to play and Chris Tarr scored into an empty net with less than a minute remaining to seal a three-game sweep in the best-of-five series.

John Coyle earned first star honours with two goals, including a highlight reel game-winner, while second star Scott Kirton added
three assists for the Powell River Regals in a 5-2 win over Fort St. John Flyers in game two of the BC Savage Cup final at Hap Parker
arena in Powell River Friday night. Brad Priestlay, Jeff Lynch and third star Elias Godoy each scored once and goaltender David Brumby

River Regals edged the Mid Island (Courtenay) Blazers
3-2 on Saturday night to win their fifth Coy Cup championship.Prior
to the game, Hap Parker, had his banner raised to
the rafters of the arena that will bear his name.
His family, friends and former players were all on
hand to witness the ceremony where he would be remembered
for all the hard work he put into the game.

Ice Demons and Williams Lake Stampeders, are coming to town to challenge

March 11, 2010 REGALS WIN IN
Powell River Regals travelled to Sechelt on Saturday for
a tune-up game against the Hitmen. In their last meeting the Hitmen
surprised the Regals with a gritty effort and handed them a very
exciting 8-7 defeat at the Powell River Recreation Complex to even
their record 1-1. Regals went down the coast with a roster of 15,
including Laszlo Tamasik in the net, for the game which was played

Whitehorse picks up players from Vancouver in effort
to win. Powell River Regals boarded flights on Pacific Coastal
Airlines to Vancouver and connected to Air North to Whitehorse over
the weekend for a pair of AAA games against the Whitehorse Huskies.The
teams split a couple of games back in November but this time both
had acquired some new players to bolster their lineups in hopes
of attending the Allan Cup in Fort St. John starting April 19

TRIP SEES SPLIT Netminding key factor in outcomes. Powell
River Regal’s AAA hockey team travelled to Whitehorse over
the weekend to get a look at the Huskies, its eventual Savage Cup
opponent. The trip was made possible by its host who hasn’t
played a AAA game since it won the championship 16 years ago. In
1993 the Whitehorse Huskies beat host Quesnel Kangaroos to win the

FINAL CONTEST..Powell River Regals relinquished the BC Senior Men's
AAA hockey title to Fort St. John Flyers, following the Savage Cup
final at the Powell River Recreation Complex, Saturday, March 24.Powell
River beat Fort St. John and the Trail Smoke Eaters in round robin
play last week, but surrendered three quick goals in the final and

Powell River Regals' netminder Chad Vizzutti was named top goaltender
